lets just say im havin a lil mid-life crisis. sounds horrible isnt it.
yesh it never really occurs to me that i will be THIS OLD (the irony. since ive been looking forward to being OLD) but ya. its not exactly a bad thing jus erm directionless and being frustrated at how things turned out. i tried to push all the blames to KENDO but i realised its really jus me. sorry for such senseless post. i will work on being interesting k. LOL

simply because I'm in a writing mood. LOL

my parents took a later flight - like 3 hours later (top airline - SIA!)
wad to do. i have no money to fly highcRass airline w them. >.<


hmmm. i was a lil nervous cause its my first time travellin alone (somehow).
was already envisioning myself in the spore embassy explaining to the friendly Thais bout my lost passport plight.

anywae my flight got delayed and my parents actually reached an hour BEFORE me. and of course my mum was in frantic mood lah (like DUH, i am by far her bestest product leh; it doesnt help that she watched 'Taken' the night before). wadever it is, the mother and daughter finally united - after 7 missed calls.

we stayed in Arnoma hotel, a pretty decent hotel; excellent services, very good location etc. sadly i din fully utilize the facilities though. )):

after checking in, i immediately set off for chulalongkorn university for some tom yam kendo. well. i roughly know where the university is located at (surprisingly :D) and managed to get there in no time BUT finding the kendo trainin ground is a MAJOR problem. i kept walking round the campus (in gi and hakama) like a siao char bo lor - this was until i saw two guys doing their karate thing in some sports room/mini gym. so desperate me decided to turn to them for help. AND THEY JUS SO HAPPEN TO KNOW! YAY! (((:

me: hi guys. erm do you know the way to blahblah?
karate guy #1: yes yes we can bring you there!
*karate guy #2 started mumbling thai to karate guy #1*
karate guy #1: follow me!
me: thank you so much!!

then they brought me to a car and asked me to hop in. of course i was taken aback. i mean its not very safe to hitch ride from strangers whom u barely know (and its 2 BEEFY THAIS somemore!) .. but.. i was at my wits end and i feel a lil embarrassed to reject their kind offer - after all i was the one who came knockin on their door, pleading for their help in the midst of their trainin lor. so its EGO > FEAR! hee!

after a 5-mins drive (the campus damn big right!), we finally reached the building and the kind-hearted karate guys CARRIED my bogu all the way to the training ground which is like 2nd-floor. i did try to stop them k. but they insisted on carryin one hor. wad to do! THAI PEOPLE ARE THE NICEST BEINGS ON EARTH! theres no way to prevent them from being nice.

okay i did inform david sensei about wanting to train in thailand but ive not officially liaised with the Thai president cause prom sort of told me that he will contact the president for me. but i think theres some miscommunication and they weren't expecting me at all. so imagine the kind of reception i received when i first arrived. An unknown female kendoka, with two beefy karateka (is there such word? lol) appeared out of nowhere. ALL of them stopped their keikos and looked at me and i could hardly mutter a word :X. one of the seniors then approached me and tried his very best to converse with me in his limited japanese (THANK GOD ITS LIMITED. cause mine too. LOL). The senior thought i was a japanese SENSEI (hohohoho, mad high!) i mean i got mistaken as a japanese/korean many times but never before for a SENSEI! hahahahahahah. okay. back to reality.

me: Did prom tell you anything about me coming over to train?
the kendo senior, AKA tae: hmm. prom? you mean our founder?
me: huh? erm. i don't think so. but can i join ur trainin?
tae: yah. sure. we will talk about it later.

#now im not looking down on prom or anything k. but i rem him being quite junior. in fact he just took his shodan with me last december so i thought its quite highly possible that we were talkin bout different prom right. turns out hes really the founder of the club lor!! tell u guys more bout it later k.

i find the trainings rather okay (as in not as tough as i thought) because they focus a lot more on the basics. BUT being a SINGAPOREAN, i had many people wanting to keiko with me (including 2 yon-dans and 3 san-dans!!) :X! and yesh i feel damn bad because im obviously a poor representative of singapore kendo la. and im was secretly praying that ppl pay no attention to me. okay. its kinda complicated. its like u sort of wan to be noticed and not to be noticed at the same time. haiyaya! so in the end i think i keikoed with EVERYONE. *MAD TIRED K cause normally i am the one queuing for ppl!*

After the keiko, i was invited to join them for dinner/supper :D. Then they started telling me bout their coach - ikeda sensei (some inspiring sensei i suppose) and their 7-dan sensei etc and that i should spend my sunday swinging shinais with these two senseis. and of course i would love to witness their awesomeness but, like i mentioned earlier on, this trip is supposed to be a CHIANGMAI trip and i would be staying in bangkok for a day or two only..... but nonetheless we had a great time reminiscing about AKT (actually nothing for me to reminisce about since i was not involved in the last two AKTs at all) and i was told that i'm very fortunate to have met the two karate guys because not many ppl know where the 'dojo' is etc. we exchanged contacts and bid farewell to one another. and that marked the end of my tom yam kendo excusion. i thought.

i always hated stairs. ALWAYS. which is why i find it amusin that naoto managed to brainwash me into joinin this marathon. and yes because climbin stairs is such a turn-off activity for me, i din even bother to train much. in fact, i only climbed up to 15 floors ONCE prior to this event.
